Useful Links

I will be giving links to specific useful videos as I go through my builds. However, here are some of my favourite YouTube channels. Check them out:

Playing and Building

Sion at Codatuition

I have to put Sion first as he is my cbg teacher! He has a massive library of how-to-play videos, and downloadable tunes in his own invented notation – which is a clever combination of tab and more traditional musical notation.
He also does 1:2:1 tuition online and is incredibly patient – but don’t steal my spot!

Chickenbone John

The Godfather of the CBG. Based in Birmingham, UK.
Chickenbone John is great for parts but also has a fantastic video library for how to build them (and play them). I use his method to shape necks in particular.

Del Puckett

Del Pucket makes me laugh and is a great player. Also, I have learned a lot from him on building cbgs.

Southern Fire Guitars

Dave is another funny guy with some useful tips. I use his scarf joint method.

Shane Speil

Lots of energy and fun. His was my first book on how to build a cbg.

Uncle Mark

You have to love this guy. He is so positive and was the first YoutTube cbg person I came across.

Bluesboy Jag

A cool dude! Another US player who’s great attitude got me into cbg.

Mike Snowden

Another brilliantly cheerful US guitar maker.  Great fun and lots of basic tunes, plus guitars!

Paul Sellers

Brilliant on how to sharpen tools like chisels and wood planes. He would be horrified to see me trying to do woodworking, but his no-nonsense approach is great and saves so much time!
